One of the important aspects of the Community Reentry Service Provider Network (CRSPN)is the ability to share information and knowledge. The Yahoo Group for the Community Reentry Service Provider Network enables you to send messages to all group members. In addition, you can upload links or files to make them available for download by group members. Lastly, it has a master calendar that allows you to inform group members of important dates and upcoming events.
INSTRUCTIONS
We have provided a simple set of instructions for setting up the Yahoo Group. If you have any difficulties, contact Bill Heiser at (510) 893-1375 or send an email to admin at crspn.org.
Joining the Group
To join the Community Reentry Service Provider Network Yahoo Group , you must be invited by the administrator of the Yahoo group. To receive an invitation, send an e-mail to us at admin at crspn.org and tell us at what e-mail address you want to receive messages from the group. We will then send you an e-mail with an Internet link. Once you get the e-mail, do the following:
- Click on the “Join this group!” link in the e-mail.
- Make sure “Join the group” is selected under the “Would you like to join ReentryProviders?” heading.
- Then click “Continue”
- If you have already used Yahoo for e-mail purposes before, just sign-up using your Yahoo! ID and password as you normally would. If you have not used Yahoo for e-mail purposes before and do not have a Yahoo! ID, you will have to create one. To do this,
- Click “ Sign up now to enjoy Yahoo! Groups”
- Complete all of the fields (e.g. Yahoo! ID, password, etc.).
- Click “Submit this form” button
- Note your password, and then click “Continue to Yahoo!” button
- Complete the new form that asks about preferences for your membership in the ReentryProviders group. If you want to receive email at your current email address, make sure it is selected under “email address.” You will likely want to leave the rest of the sections the way they are.
- Then click “Join” and then click “Go to ReentryProviders Home.”
- You are now ready to send messages to Network members and use the group calendar.
- In the future, you can access the group be going to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and clicking “Sign In” on the left side of the screen.
Sending Messages to Network Members
Once you have joined the group, you can send messages to all group members by addressing an e-mail with the “To” line filled in with “ReentryProviders@yahoogroups.com”. Please note that replies to Yahoo Group messages are sent to all group members unless they are addressed to a specific member or members.
Using the Group Calendar
To use the calendar:
- Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/ and click “Sign in!” in the box on the left
- Sign in using your Yahoo ID and password.
- Click on “ReentryProviders” in the box on the left
- Click on “Calendar” in the box on the left.
- The master calendar for the month is on the right. In the center of the page is the daily calendar for today.
- You can navigate on the calendar to a particular day by clicking on that day on the monthly calendar on the right. You can navigate to different months by clicking on the arrows to the right and left of the month name. You can show calendars for the day, week, month, and year by clicking on “Day,” “Week,” “Month,” and “Year” on top of the monthly calendar.
- Click “Add Event” and fill in the required information.
- Click “Save Changes.”
- When you are finished, click “Sign Out” on the right side of the web page.
